WINTERISHERE: GHOST STORY WKND

The Spring/Summer offshoot of the Winter Is Here! Workshop is the Ghost Story Weekend. Celebrated horror author Clay McLeod Chapman (Ghost Eaters, What Kind of Mother) and I take a dozen students to some of the most haunted towns in the U.S., where we hole up in a haunted hotels or cursed cabin and write/workshop ghost stories. Past Ghost Story Weekends include: Harpers Ferry, Virginia; North Bennington, Vermont, and Salem, Massuchusetts.

SEE THE WORLD. BUILD ONE, TOO!

WINTER IS HERE! is an annual writing workshop/adventure retreat founded in 2018 by Alex Dawson. Past Winter is Here! trips include two forays (2018, 2019) to Findhorn, an expedition (2020) to the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland, a pandemic excursion (2022) to Iceland, a Tolkien pilgrimage (2023) to Oxford & Bath, and, most recently, Gruyeres, Switzerland, a small medieval town at the foot of the French Alps with a museum dedicated to H.R. Giger, the Swiss surrealist who devised/built the Xenomorph, and a bar designed by him.
